The Area Sales Manager Position
Various area sales managers are recruited by companies within the UK. Area sales managers are responsible for generating new businesses by finding the lead, selling the product or service and closing the deal. The type of products or services the area sales manager is responsible for selling will vary from toys to household goods. Whatever the area sales manager is required to sell, he or she must do their best and get as many sold as possible.
A lot of area sales managers will begin their career by starting off in a lower end sales position. After continuous successive sales and contribution to the company from the amount of sales taken in and hard work; slowly the type of role will start climbing up the ladder. Within sales, so long as the person can do well within their role and can prove that he or she is able to motivate a team and lead them, they will most likely be promoted to the next level up.
It is important for all sales employees to understand the product or service which they are required to sell very well. The success in selling the product or service will require a good knowledge about them in order to incorporate the advantages of the product of service into the sales pitch, the area sales manager is just the same.
The area sales manager will be required to lead a team of sales agents and to try and maximise the sales opportunities in the area. The area sales manager will need to ensure all sales agents meet their monthly targets as well as complying with the company’s objective including promoting the products and services sold by the company.
Training and coaching a team will also be part of the area sales manager’s responsibility so arranging meetings with the staff and arranging a training timetable will also be required. Overall, the area sales manager position is important in generating sales for the company. A lot of the roles will require previous sales experience and anyone who have a proven sales track record and experience in leading a team should apply.
