Peter Schiff gives the Libertarian Party some tough medicine “We Need to Influence the GOP!”

Peter Schiff, keynote speaker at the LP of CT Convention, tells the audience that it is a waste of resources running as a minor party. “We haven’t won anything in 40 years” and “we don’t have another 40 years to try.” Instead, he recommends joining the Republican party while it is in shambles in order to expand the influence of the libertarian wing. We can only hope that Peter Schiff will lead by example and run for Senate in 2010 against the neocon Rob Simmons in the primary and the crook Chris Dodd in the general election.

Actually the Republican party was Hijacked by the Neocons,

  2. christopherkuper says:

If the republican party was on the same platform as when it had started I might agree with you partriarch, but the fact is, its already been hijacked but moderates and progressives. The libertarian stance is almost identical to that of our founders.

  3. partriarch says:

    P. S. to my last statement. Ron Paul SUCKS!

  4. partriarch says:

Libertarians are now becoming hijackers of another party. Screw you guys. If you can’t run on your own party platform, then why do you have to take over someone else’s party? You hate republicans and democrats. Why don’t you try to hijack the Democrat party instead. Bring it back toward the right political side.

It’s true. Sometimes you got to take the war to their turf. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em and create chaos within.

  6. ThirdPartyRevolution says:

How about if we get into the Republican Party, let’s not rebuild it but destroy it. Then the former members of the party will have no choice but to vote for a conservative or libertarian party.

  7. wachman says:

Ron Paul. The Libertarian Godfather. Please run again Ron, your country needs you now more than ever.

  8. enemyartistkristofeR says:

I think Libertarians & Anarchists, especially of the Market nature, should infiltrate BOTH the Republican and the Democrat parties. That way once inside, we can influence them both towards the Libertarian/Minarchist/Anarchist ways of thinking, but if you come from the left you can get more involved in the Libertarian Democrats and vice versa. Then once we take over, we can then begin to eliminate the government piece by piece. That way which ever side won the election it would still be us.

    awesome

  10. Youreallsheople says:

Solution: Get William Griggs to run as the leader of the Libertarian Party. He will energize the party and bring many Dems and Repubs over.

  11. enomarekim says:

i hope that the libertarian party takes over the republicans, but it is still somewhat unlikley becasue they have invested so much of their credibility into these twisted ideas such as preemptive war, religion, and torture. I totally agree that if we were to take away to social freedoms issue, and it was all about the economy, libertarians would kick democrats ass. Most of the middle class understands the free market.

    LOL

itheloser is a typical example of the self-righteous, self-aggrandizing progressive personality type whose fascist political philosophy can only exist without dissent. Go back to the Huffington Post where all you guys whine back and forth at each other, blaming conservatives and libertarians for everything when the real truth is that all your failing are your own fault. You spineless pussies can’t even pass a healthcare bill with both houses in congress and the presidency in your pocket.

  14. Tauraucity says:

smart strategy peter, hopefully it works out for you!

  15. Piscivorus says:

Are you kidding me?! All the Democrats do these days is race bait. But you don’t hear pressing it all the time. I’m not the racist type. The newsletter scandal was thoroughly debunked. If Ron Paul were the racist type, he wouldn’t be in office today and he wouldn’t be my idol.

  16. Eliyahu775 says:

We Libertarians support the Constitution, which involves abolishing the Fed. All the dems and reps want is big government and more pork barrel spending. More and more of our government is being taken over by leftist liberal – Socialists, in other words. That’s not what we Libertarians want for this country. We want small government by the people and for the people. What do you want for this country, itheuser?

  17. itheuser says:

Could you imagine if a Democrat was accused of such a thing? Your type would never let up, but when it comes to your chosen idol, it suddenly doesn’t mean a damn thing.

    The hypocrisy is absurd.

  18. itheuser says:

Yes, a newsletter signed, and printed as if it was written by Ron Paul included racist statements that he claims were not his.

Regardless of whether or not he wrote them, he wanted to give the impression that he wrote them. More importantly, it demonstrates that Ron Paul has no business being in his ideas to ghost writers. He has, to this day, refused to state who wrote such nonsense. That alone is inexcusable, and makes him complicit.

  19. itheuser says:

Theft? What the hell are you talking about? Nothing illegal has been done. You equate theft with taxation. Taxes are apart of doing business in any country. They are legally applied.

If you don’t like that, then change the system. However, labeling Obama, or Democrats as criminals shows just how gullible, and out of touch you really are.

  20. itheuser says:

Individualists? You’re a business party. You have more in common with juvenile rebellion than serious political discourse.

Most Libertarians believe in the “Invisible Hand” concept which is akin to believing in God as the fixer of things.

Once again, the unregulated derivatives market fueled the collapse, which Conservatives fought tooth, and nail to keep unregulated. This is well documented.

You can claim to be about whatever you want, but actions speak louder than words.

  21. soylentgreenb says:

You just witnessed the fed blow to huge bubbles and the subsequent theft of trillions of dollars in broad daylight and you’re whining about conspiracy theories?

The 9/11 attack cost millions and tens of lives to perform, did billions in damages and cost thousands of lives. The Bush response cost trillions of dollars and a million lives(not americans, yet, but a nuclear attack on the US is now much more likely than it ever has been, especially if you turn Pakistan into an even bigger mess).

  22. oriondt says:

Libertarians are not “authoritarian personality types”. More like individualist. Sounds like itheuser is another progressive hysterical about how fast his party is going down the toilet thanks to America’s independents. Liberal Massachusetts may have its first Republican senator in a few days. Sorry no one’s buying your utopian pipe dream. But then again, aside from the healthcare bill that everyone hates, what’s the difference between Bush and Obama anyway?

  23. Piscivorus says:

OMG, I dismissed it a long time ago, it’s ancient history now. It was nothing but a smear campaign by one of his old Democrat opponents- go figure. The newsletter had “Ron Paul” all over it because it was his newsletter but the articles themselves were written by ghostwriters. He didn’t write that stuff but he did admit responsibility for letting it slip past him. You see, I am informed. But, if you think the LP adheres to “unproven, juvenile ideologies”, you’re seriously misinformed.

  24. itheuser says:

Yes, with that kind of moral righteousness, you’re certainly going to attract a lot of sensible people to your “cause.”

This post is a wonderful example of how Conservative/Libertarians tend to attract authoritarian personality types who think that they have the one true moral philosophy that all others must obey.

You’ve already decided our “morality” for us, so what use is there for discourse, or compromise?

  25. itheuser says:

Also, Libertarians, like other Conservatives rely on perpetual doom and gloom stories to galvanize their base.

It’s not enough that they have concerns for certain policies, they have to make such policies seem like some aggressive political conspiracy meant to enslave the world.

There isn’t much moderation in their rhetoric, which makes the quality of their judgment seem incredibly poor, and hostile.
